Jakub Skurzynski CORNY GRON

€15.00

Get your ciupaga - the path to the Peak Black is not for any ordinary folk - and start your journey to become harnaś. Just try not to get shot by some dirty bandit, fall from crag, be mauled by a bear or lose your soul after meeting the Milord in the meantime.

Corny Groń (/tzʌrnɪ ɡroj̃/) is a solo/micro rpg, based on Pelle Nilsson's Mörk Borg, but with Polish Carpathians Mountains folklore flavor, Podhale and Beskidy highlanders and highwaymen, high mountain fey-kings and fiendish nobles living in out-of-this-world mountain manors.

Instead of exploring a dungeon, Corny Groń („Peak Black" in Podhale dialect) is all about exploring mountain wilderness and weirdness. The game embodies the atmosphere of folk tales about outlaws and knaves from the Polish mountains, their culture and art.

The game is illustrated with dedicated engravings handmade by Polish artist Ala Wiśniewska, which refer to traditional woodcut craft.

Apart for the game itself, Corny Groń can be used as a setting / point-crawl map generator for other games, including tabletop roleplaying games. You can also create a map for your games during your own solo roleplaying experience with Corny Groń!

  • If you enjoy this solo game you may be into its "group-play" intended iteration / expansion Beyond Corny Groń, which is available here!

  • If you want to read more about Karpaki, its inhabitants or factions, and how to create characters originating from these mountains – you can download the Players Guide, Character sheets and templates for map making here! Those are and will always be free, serving as an introduction to the setting for those who will want to wander into the Valley.

  • The Karpakian Soundtrack is also available for download here!

  • As I read through (...) I felt like I was reading stories that my old Polish grandfather would’ve told me about his homeland. - The thing is, I don’t have a Polish grandfather. There’s not a drop of Polish blood in my family! That’s how easy it is to immerse yourself in this fairytale. - Ash Alder, Wizard’s Respite
