Tom Kennedy KFAX19 X.TEE.C
A departure from KFAX’s usual black and white small format risographed printing to bring you a full spectrum trip on more than 100 pages across early 90s rave culture
As with many other youth culture movements, the t-shirt serves as so much more than just clothing to young ravers. An independent statement of identification, rebellion and spirit, these tshirts stand out as an integral part of the style and helped define the aesthetic of early rave music and parties.
Usually produced quickly and cheaply, the designs reflect the D.I.Y ethos of the time. Printed on easily available blanks of the time such as Oneida, Hanes and Screenstars, the t-shirts are now considered serious collectors items and move for serious amounts.
The new book brings together part of the collection of Tom Kennedy, a curator of rave ephemera who also goes by the name ‘BPM Archive’. Tom grew up as a DJ, record store staff and vintage clothing reseller and KFAX19 represents the finest items of his collection and only a very small part of this important archive.
These copies were slightly damaged during transport to Berlin. The all have a bumped upper right corner, as seen on the image.
