Sidereal Fortress ODISSEA: HDK37 Cass (incl. Download)
Re-issue of Sidereal Fortress’ dungeon synth soundtrack to Ulysses’s Adventures!
Some tales tell something that we all have in our soul: the "Odyssey", Homer's epic written in the sixth century BC about Ulysses’ adventurous return home after a long and bloody war is a universal and immortal tale, which unites all peoples by telling feelings we all know: fear, love, anger, courage and attraction to the unknown.
The italian musician called Sidereal Fortress, a veteran of the HDK catalog, was confronted with the difficult task of writing an album that tells in music the adventures of Ulysses, retracing the highlights. The result is an album of epic and dreamy Mediterranean dungeon-synth, with references to the adventure cinema of the 60s and the 80's NewAge music; among its notes you can breathe the scent of the open sea and the lush Mediterranean vegetation.
The album closes with a tribute to the composer Carlo Rustichelli (1916-2004), author of hundreds of soundtracks for Italian b-movies, including the soundtracks of many mythological films and so-called "peplum" ("Arrivano i titani", "Il figlio di Cleopatra", "Ercole contro Moloch", "La valle dell'eco tonante"). In 1968, Carlo Rustichelli wrote the soundtrack for a TV drama based on the Odyssey.
